Tignall News
How many 87-year-old men can you see getting down onto the ground and doing push-ups? Well, I understand Coach Charlie Davidson did just that Friday night. Most of us in our 60s may get down onto the ground, but not get up, but can’t do push-ups while we are down there. How appropriate to have the football field named the “Charlie Davidson Field,” especially after winning four state championships and beating Lincoln County eight times. I asked some people what they remembered about him. Kay Tyler and Nonie Yochim remembered waving through the window at someone in his class. He made them come in and stand at the front of the room and wave the whole period. I remember he would take any of the boys who misbehaved to his office and beat on the couch with the paddles and make them yell so that everyone outside thought they were getting a beating. That’s what I heard anyway. ƒSome of the classmates who started out in Tignall met at the Home Cafe Saturday for lunch. They had so much fun reminiscing. Those grandchildren had so much fun and they wouldn't leave until they were closing up the place. Carolyn saw Dixon Caddell, son of Billy and Rosemary Caddell, and she asked him if he was having a good time and he answered with, "I'm one of the employees."
