For me, nothing brings back the childhood memories of summer days like the taste of freshly picked ripe strawberries. So sweet and juicy, they don’t even need any cream or sugar to doctor them up. I had the pleasure of reliving this nostalgic experience during my recent visit to the Lazy Willow Farm in Washington, Georgia.

Summer Reading Program set to begin this Friday at library

The Mary Willis Library will launch its Summer Reading Program with registration on Friday, May 18. This year’s theme is “Dream Big – Read!” The program is open to children, ages preschool through young adult, at no cost.

W-WMS Eighth Grade Students recently returned home from a two day tour of the city of Savannah and other nearby historical attractions. When students first arrived in Savannah, they along with their chaperones (teachers) met the tour guide at Savannah’s Visitor Center. They then traveled to Tybee Island where they participated in a beach study.

Piano students will present recital Sat. at First Baptist

A recital featuring the students from the studio of Ruth Harris will be held on Saturday, May 19, at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church.

Students will play both solos and duets. Selections will be from various periods of music history including Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary.

The Iris Garden Club met for its annual spring salad luncheon at the home of Polly Fievet .

Mrs. Fievet and co-hostesses, Gail Boyd, Franny Robinson, Rachel Arnold, Jackie Gale, Mary Lou Dyer, and Cathy Stackhouse, greeted guests and served refreshments as they arrived.

Rogers, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a Motorcycle Ride and Poker Run, along with various raffle drawings and sales, will be held on Saturday, June 2, at the home of Peggy and Jimmy Tanner, located at 230 Newtown Road in Washington. High school to offer credit recovery program for students

Washington- Wilkes Comprehensive High School will be offering a credit recovery program this summer May 21-June 1 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. daily. The goal of the credit recovery program is to provide the opportunity for students who have failed one or more core classes to recover that credit and graduate on time with their class.

The Mother’s Day brunch at Clifford’s Grove Baptist Church was enjoyed by everyone. There was a lot of delicious breakfast food and the tables in the fellowship hall were beautifully decorated.

. At the beginning of worship service, little Morgan Dove sang “Happy Birthday” to her daddy. It was a surprise and so sweet.

New Georgia tags now available at county tax offices

The Georgia Department of Revenue has announced that the new license plates are now available in all 159 counties of the state. The new tags are manufactured and distributed in a process that will significantly decrease the amount of time it takes Georgia taxpayers to receive their license plates.
