     Less well-known in this country than in Great Britain, Benjamin Disraeli was a leading politician and statesman in the Victorian period. Appropriately, Adam Kirsch introduces him by referring to novels published during his political career, by George Eliot and Anthony Trollope. Disraeli was himself a novelist.

Taping of Paula Deen show is a fun, filling experience

      SAVANNAH – Paula Deen lives on Wilmington Island. Her kitchen is a television studio—what did you expect?— and if you are invited to see her tape her weekly show, you can sample the food when the crew breaks for lunch. Barbecued ribs and chicken, roast pork, salad, vegetables, and sweet potato casserole for dessert. At least that was my choice for dessert.
