More local participation sought as Mule Day planning begins

Preparations are underway for the 2005 Mule Day celebration of times gone by, and organizers are looking for more participation from local folks.

“We need local crafters and local entertainers,” said Sue Davidson, Chamber of Commerce board member.

“And we’d especially love to have someone local to design our Mule Day t-shirt.”

The Chamber wants to get more local non-commercial vendors involved in the October 8 event, preferring to avoid mass-produced “crafts” that can be found anywhere. “We’d like to keep it only hand crafted items, and especially from local folks,” she said.

There is also room on the schedule for local entertainers to come and entertain the Mule Day crowds. “We need free entertainment by local artists,” Davidson said.

The T-shirt design contest is open to all, and the deadline is July 29. Anyone with a design for a T-shirt can bring it by the Chamber of Commerce during office hours.

There is also a need for members of the community to volunteer to help with preparation for the event, and to help during Mule Day itself. Contact the Chamber to help – 6782013.
