Leaders needed for Girl Scouts in Wilkes troops
Channon Ferraro is one of many young Girl Scouts in Wilkes County looking for leaders in all age groups. The Girl Scouts in Washington and Wilkes County need more leaders, and they need them now.
“Girl Scouts of Northeast Georgia and Wilkes County will be holding a recruiting session in early September for girls interested in becoming scouts,” said Girl Scout leader Kathy Ferraro. “We need leaders over 18 to help lead girls in all age groups.”
Girl Scouting gives girls ages 517 from every segment of society a chance to develop their potential, make friends, and become a vital part of their community, she said. “Wilkes County is seeking leaders to start up new troops for the girls of our community. Training and support is provided through Girl Scouts of Northeast Georgia.”
Although many of the leader are mothers of girls in the troop, leaders don’t have to have daughters at all, she said. “Please become a volunteer leader and have an adventure with us!”
Ferraro can be contacted at 6781282 or 401-2824.
The Girl Scouts in northeast Georgia serves over 7,000 girls in 25 counties. More than 3.8 million girls are members nationwide.
