Sisters attend camp in N.C. for kids of deployed troops

Three sisters – Janie, Melissa and Karmin Farrell – whose stepfather, SSG Brian Farrell, is currently deployed with the Georgia National Guard’s 48th Brigade in Iraq, attended Operation Purple in Parkton, N.C.

Operation Purple is a camp offered to children with a parent currently deployed and was held at Camp Rockfish in North Carolina. The children enjoyed many activities such as horseback riding, creek floating, crafts, and playing in the mud.

Operation Purple was free of charge for all of the children attending. Sears and the National Military Family Association sponsored the camp. Supporters of the camp also sent the children home with a book bag, some school supplies, an Operation Purple T-shirt and hat, and other items.
