Summer will soon be gone. I for one will be glad. Church at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sunday was good. We had a good crowd, good singing and good teaching and preaching. The sermon was on “God’s Grace Is Sufficient,” taken from II Corinthians 12:7-10. The young people went to Athens Sunday afternoon to bowl. Congratulations to Lois Hoffmann Jones and Coryer Poss who were married at Ebenezer Baptist Church Saturday. I hope they have a long happy marriage. Happy birthday to Sandra H. Pope, 21st; Joni Bruce, 24th Terri Driggers and Sheldon Davis, 27th. Mrs. Walter Tuttle attended revival services at Phillips Mill Baptist Church several evenings last week. On Thursday, Pat and her mother, Mrs. Hill O’Neal, enjoyed a trip to Thomson. Pat visited Mr. and Mrs. Robbie Newsome, Brandon and Jacob, Sunday. Rhonda Ingram was taken to Young Harris College last week by Claude and Sherry. Rhonda will be a student there this year. Alec Dunaway had a bout last week with a tooth problem and has not felt well. He did get out and check on some of his neighbors though. Russell Goldman of Doraville spent Sunday in Wilkes County to be pianist for Mt. Zion and visit his mom, Sara Huff. Mt. Zion had dinner after services Sunday. Connie Johnson of Lincoln County visited Sara Huff. Others visiting were Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Standard of Rayle; Linda and Peyton Standard, and Alec Dunaway. Last Friday, Roy Noggle and Donna Bristol of Marietta visited. They enjoyed going to some church cemeteries in the county for history lessons. Mallorysville and Anthony Chapel were among those visited. I visited my parents Sunday afternoon. Mr. brother, Garnett Wallace, and Shannon Thomason and Wesley Butler also visited. Taylor McAvoy spent Saturday evening and Sunday with her aunt, Shane N. Barnett, and boys in Athens. Visiting Linda Standard Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Standard, Peyton Standard, and Alec Dunaway. Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Ryll, Connor and Calley of Washington enjoyed supper with her mother, Mrs. Lucille Ingram. They also enjoyed swimming. We are sorry to hear that Lona T. Chesnut will be having gallbladder surgery this week. May things go well and you will be home soon. The weekend of August 13-14, Lona and Roy Chesnut and Mrs. Lucille T. Ingram spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Davenport in Hayesville, N.C. Miss Grace Dunaway and Alec Dunaway were supper guests of Beverly Teasley in Lincoln County Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Peek of Vero Beach, Fla., spent a week with her grandmother, Mrs. Marion Newsome. They also visited relatives in Atlanta and Augusta. Mrs. Linda Standard was among those attending the Jones-Poss wedding at Ebenezer Baptist Church Saturday. Mrs. Sara Huff visited residents of Wilkes Health Care last week, going especially to see Mrs. Datez Turmon, Mrs. Elese Walton, Mrs. Sara Gresham, and Mrs. Ethel Harris. Sincere love and sympathy to all who lost loved ones recently. Our prayers go out to you all.
