Funeral services for Katie Quinn Mercier, 74, were held Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Gibson Grove Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. Dennis Quinn and Rev. Joseph Williams officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She died August 16 in Wills Memorial Hospital, Washington.

Mrs. Mercier was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Gus Quinn and Willie Mae Quinn Bussey. She was a faithful member of the Gibson Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, George Mercier; a son, Charles; 11 children, Ethreen, Claudette, Tony, Willie, Patricia, Vanessa, Paul, John, Joe, Darryl, and Harold; five grandchildren, Melissa, Caroline, Arthur, Stephenie, Denorio; three greatgrandchildren; and a sister, Alice Mae Bussey.

Pallbearers included Walter Gresham, Winifred Lyons, Leon Quinn, Tony Mills, and Kevin Heard.

Davenport-McLendon Mortuary of Washington was in charge of arrangement.
