Rev. Kathy Lamon and the congregation of Smyrna United Methodist Church have invited the community join in celebrating the church’s homecoming on Sunday, September 19, at the 11 a.m. worship service. Former pastor Rev. Calvin Ward will bring the message.

Rev. Ward was pastor at Smyrna from 1962 through 1965 and is currently pastor of Frances Asbury United Methodist Church in Elberton. At the conclusion of the service all are invited to enjoy dinner on the grounds.

Homecoming also marks the beginning of revival services to be held Sunday through Wednesday evenings at 7:30 featuring Evangelist Rev. Pierce Norman each evening.

Rev. Norman has been in ministry since 1966 and has served as a minister in Newnan, Cartersville, and Augusta. In the 1980s Rev. Norman was a full time evangelist for the North Georgia Conference and preached in hundreds of revivals and camp meetings around North Georgia. He retired from Lewis Memorial UMC in Evans, Georgia, in 2002 and now serves once again in full time evangelistic ministry.

“Rev. Norman is a powerful preacher who brings the heart of the gospel into the heart of each believer,” Lamon said.

Child care is available at all services. The public is also invited Monday through Wednesday evenings at 6:15 for covered dish suppers and fellowship prior to the worship services.
