Southern States Cooperative to host local meeting Oct. 26
Southern States Cooperative will review its 2005 fiscal year operations at a series of local annual meetings, including the upcoming meeting for members of Southern States Cooperative, Inc., Washington service.
“The 2005 fiscal year marked a continuation of favorable results in efforts to improve our operations,” reports President and CEO Tom Scribner. “Both sales volume and income from operations were up compared with last year and we’re moving ahead with plans to maintain and build on that trend.”
Southern States Cooperative Inc., (SSC, Inc.) Washington Service, will hold its annual membership day and annual meeting on Wednesday, October 26, at 303 Norman Street, Washington.
Membership day activities begin at 11:00 a.m., with the start of the meeting.
With the theme, “Raising the Bar,” the cooperative’s leadership will use the meeting to report on both local and company-wide operations, as well as preliminary results for the 2005 fiscal year. Local board members will be elected and retiring board members will be recognized.
Board nominees include Shane Moore and McCord W. Hall.
“The annual meeting is the best single opportunity to outline our plans for the future to our membership and discuss our progress in meeting our financial goals,” notes Bobby Blackmon, manager of SSC Inc., Washington Service.
Founded in 1923, Southern States now has more than 300,000 farmer members.
