By W-WMS EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS

Here at Washington-Wilkes Middle School students and faculty are busy as usual.

Student progress reports went home on the 10th. School pictures are going to take place on the 21st. W-WMS now has an updated internet page which can be accessed through our Board of Education’s website which is www.wilkes.k12.ga.us. Once again the renowned program, Book It, has reintroduced itself to sixth graders at WWMS. Sports at Washington Wilkes have also been involved with the ongoings of the school.

Once again our Student Council has been working away with plans for the upcoming dance. This is a great chance to have some fun with older friends and also make new ones. Everyone at W-WMS is very excited and will have a great time at the dance.

The W-WMS Beta Club will be going to the Georgia Beta Club Convention on November 17. Students will participate in various competitions such as math, science, English, social studies, and quiz bowl. Students also enter contests in categories such as art, woodworking, photography, sewing, and essay and speech writing.

Thursday, October 6, a pep rally for football was scheduled, but was unfortunately canceled because the football game was canceled due to weather. However, there will be a pep rally for softball, cross country, and another during basketball season. Unfortunately, the football game will not be rescheduled.

The last softball game was played on Monday, October 3, against Athens Christian. The score was 12-2 with the Lady Tigers taking the win. The Lady Tigers had a great season with a final record of 7-1.

Tryouts for the Tigerette Dance Team will take place on October 12-13. The team will be comprised of 12 seventh and eighth graders.
