Lunch and Learn Club makes candleabra for Courtground reunion
The Lunch and Learn Club met at the Rayle City Hall Wednesday, September 28, at 10 a.m.
Peggy Echols brought the meeting to order and presided. Fran Thaxton led the opening prayer, and read a wonderful story, “I Met God in the Morning,” and read scripture. The treasurer’s report was given by Shirley Chafin and the secretary’s report was given by Bonnie Boatwright.
The club sent a check to the hurricane disaster relief program. Cards were sent to the sick and bereaved. After a brief discussion, the ladies made beautiful candleabra which were used in decorating the tables at the Courtground School Reunion after which the ladies of the club took the one they made home. It is always a lot of fun making the crafts.
After the blessing, everyone enjoyed a covered dish meal of favorite recipes of delicious grilled chicken, butterbeans, corn, macaroni and cheese, casseroles, corn muffins, pecan pie, lemon pie, cakes, and many other dishes.
Present for this meeting were Peggy Echols, Christine Wheatley, Shirley Chafin, Betty Winfrey,, Sudie Kennedy, Ruth Flynt, Fran Thaxton, Mablean Sherrer, and Bonnie Boatwright.
Many were absent because of sickness or various reasons. They were missed and everyone is looking forward to them being back.
The next meeting will be October 26. All ladies are invited to attend.
