We are planning to have a fall social at Clifford’s Grove Baptist Church Saturday night, October 22, beginning at 6:30 p.m. We will have a supper of soup and sandwiches and a good time of fellowship and fun, and maybe hayride. Plan to be with us. On Sunday, October 30, we will have our regular fifth Sunday covered dish meal following the morning worship services. Congratulations to Pam McCarty and Angie Strother on having a successful opening of their new business, Bee Southern, Saturday, October 1. Pam said they were real busy all week and were pleased with the interest shown by their customers. Mrs. John Gill of Lavonia visited Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer Tuesday afternoon. She also visited her brother, Vernon Hopkins, in Washington. He is back in his home after being in Wilkes Health Care Center for some time. Several members of Clifford’s Grove Baptist Church attended revival services at Rehoboth Baptist Church. Rev. Donnie Walton was the guest evangelist. Mrs. John Sutherland underwent out-patient surgery Friday at University Hospital in Augusta. We hope she will recover quickly. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Evans Davis during the week and weekend were Bob Davis, Lane Davis of Thomson, Gerald Davis of Lincolnton, Mrs. Virginia Witcraft of Raytown, and Mr. and Mrs. Coryer Poss. David Hopkins and grandson, Seth Cook, of Augusta visited Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer Saturday morning. After attending Mule Day at Callaway Plantation Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Wilkinson of Glennville visited Mrs. Iris Dyson that afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Philip Huff of Athens visited his aunt, Mrs. Carey Bailey in Metasville, Sunday afternoon. James Sherrer, who is Director of Men’s Ministry (Brotherhood) of the Georgia Baptist Association, was guest speaker at their meeting at the Tignall Baptist Church Saturday night. Before the meeting they all enjoyed a fish fry with hushpuppies and French fries. After services at Clifford’s Grove Sunday morning, Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer attended the Courtground School reunion. Neither of them attended school there but they know a lot of folks who did. It’s always good to see old friends. After the delicious covered dish meal, everyone enjoyed music and singing by Rachel Eberhart of Oglethorpe County. I made a mistake in my news last week. I told you James and I celebrated our twelfth anniversary. Well, it was really our thirteenth. I don’t know why I wrote that.
