Armour’s ‘Big Mama’ and ‘Cadillac’ get high honors; other Wilkes FFA members show at Gwinnett Co. Fair
Ethan Armour and his heifer, “Big Mama,” were named grand champion in the Junior show and reserve grand champion in the Open show at the Gwinnett County Fair. Ethan Armour, a member of the Wilkes County FFA, and his heifer, “Big Mama,” were named grand champion in the Junior show, and reserve grand champion in the Open show at the Southeast Empire Livestock Show held at the Gwinnett County Fair on September 19-25. Ethan and his steer, “Cadillac,” were named reserve grand champion of the show.
The steer show consisted of eight classes of steers shown by weight. In Class 2, with steers weighing between 710 and 760 lbs., Tabitha Tench of Washington-Wilkes placed third and Tommy Howard placed fourth and fifth.
Ethan Armour and “Cadillac” were named reserve grand champion at the Southeast Empire Steer Show at the Gwinnett County Fair. In Class 3, steers weighing 775855 lbs, Wright Gunter placed third; Joshua Goldman, fourth; Kyle Goldman, fifth; and Greg Callaway, seventh.
In Class 4, Kyle Goldman placed fourth with his steer weighing 900 lbs.
Russell Standard placed seventh in Class 4 with steers weighing between 905 to 930 lbs. Wright placed fifth with his steer in Class 7 for steers weighting 965-990 lbs. Ethan placed first in Class 8 for steers weighing between 1010 and 1120 lbs.
Tabitha placed second with her heifer in the Commercial heifer show. Wright placed third with his Commercial heifer; and ninth with his Shorthorn heifer.
In the Chi-Influence heifer show, Ethan placed second in the Junior show and third in the Open show with his heifer named “Pumpkin.” He placed first with his Late Senior Yearling heifer, “Big Mama.” Ethan also placed third in his tenth grade showmanship class.
Jackson Armour, showing for the first time, placed second in the Open show in the Late Junior Bull Calves division.
