Gresham-Saggus Women on Mission group meets at FBC
The Rhetta Gresham-Terry Bennett Saggus Women on Mission of the First Baptist Church met in the Jesse Mercer Chapel Thursday afternoon, October 6.
Gladys Reese presided and welcomed members. She offered the opening prayer. The group joined in repeating the WMU Watchword.
During the business meeting reports were given by Mabel Johnson and Catherine Thurmond. Members voted to make monetary gifts to World Hunger and State Missions.
Mrs. Reese announced the World Day of Prayer observance will be November 7 at 12 noon and 6 p.m. Other announcements included plans for Operation Christmas Child and the shoebox ministry of Samaritan’s Purse.
Helen Miller presented the program from “Mosaic” entitled “Crazy for Christ”. The program featured the new WMU President, Kay Miller of Little Rock, Ark., daughter of foreign missionaries to Thailand. Mrs. Thurmond and June Chafin assisted Mrs. Miller.
Mabel Johnson read the missionary prayer calendar and led in prayer for the missionaries and those with special needs in the community.
