The Frances Wheelis Women on Mission of the First Baptist Church met in the Mary Callaway Burton Fellowship Hall Monday evening, October 10.

The group spent the first part of their meeting breaking the rice bowls and sorting the money that will be given to World Hunger.

Nancy Madden presided and opened with the WMU Watchword. Sue Lance offered the opening prayer.

Several announcements were made during the business meeting and plans were made for several mission action events. Members were reminded to bring treats for the Trunk of Treats on The Square October 30.

Mrs. Madden presented the program and told of her trip, accompanied by her sister, Jane Norman of Elberton, to West Bank, British Columbia, Canada, to visit Kevin and Alicia Madden and family. The Maddens are church planters with the North American Mission Board and have been instrumental in the formation of The Potters House Community Church. She related her excitement at being a part of the last service of the church in their old location and being at the first service in the new location. She also told of the many programs and ministries provided by the church.

Teresa Bishop led the missionary prayer calendar and Cheryl Edwards closed with prayer for the missionaries and those with special needs.

Louise McClearen, hostess, served delicious refreshments during a time of fellowship.

Present were Melanie Wells, Nancy Madden, Teresa Bishop, Louise McClearen, Lynne Land, Cheryl Edwards, Sue Lance, Elizabeth Pope and Susan Pope.
