Lady Tigers secure 2nd place, will begin playoffs next Friday
The Washington-Wilkes Lady Tigers softball team beat the Aquinas Fighting Irish on Tuesday, October 11, by a score of 10-1 and clinched second place in region 7A with only one game left in the regular season. That game is against Glascock at home today, October 13, beginning at 4:30 p.m.
The Tigers are now 11-3 overall and 9-2 in region competition.
When playoff action begins next week, the Lady Tigers will play the No. 3 team from Region 8A in the first round of the tournament. The game is scheduled for next Friday, October 21, beginning at 4 p.m. at Lovejoy High School in Hampton, Georgia.
The playoff format will include the top four teams from regions 5, 6, 7, and 8 playing a double elimination tournament. The top four teams from the tournament will play for the state title against the top four teams out of the south bracket the following weekend in Columbus, Georgia.
