Still time to make reservations for Chamber banquet
It’s not too late to make reservations to see local individuals, organizations, and businesses honored a week from today at the WashingtonWilkes Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Meeting and Dinner.
Nominees for Big Business of the Year include The Fitzpatrick Hotel, Pliant Corporation, and Farmers & Merchants Bank.
Small Business of the Year Nominees are: Petal Pushers, The Jockey Club, and Watchmaker’s Restaurant.
Two groups and an individual were nominated as Volunteer of the Year: The Washington Kiwanis Club, Eta Omicrom Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, and David VanHart.
Nominees for Citizen of the Year: Organizers of the Youth Softball Game for Hurricane Relief, and as individuals Steve DeShazo and Louise Maynard.
The dinner will be held at the Edward B. Pope Community Center, on Thursday, November 3, at 7 p.m. Reservations are needed by close of business Friday.
“Our guest speaker for the evening will be the former Mayor Bob Young of Augusta,” said Chamber executive director Donna Hardy. “The program will begin with the Annual Meeting, where we’ll provide everyone with an overview of the year’s past events and our goals for the years to come.”
The Awards Ceremony will follow, she said, during which local businesses, individuals, and groups will be recognized for outstanding contributions to the community.
Tickets are available from the Chamber of Commerce at $20 each. The deadline to purchase tickets or make reservations is October 28 by the close of business. Space is limited so interested parties are encouraged to reserve early. For more information, contact the office at 6782013.
