First Baptist’s ‘Trunks of Treats’ is good family time on The Square, Sunday, 6 pm.
The Arms Around Washington Ministry and the Children’s Ministry of the First Baptist Church, Washington, is sponsoring a “Trunks of Treats” event on The Square in Downtown Washington on Sunday, October 30, from 6 until 8 p.m.
This event is free to the children of Wilkes County and is also a good time for the whole family.
“We have revised our annual fall festival which has been held at the Pope Community Center and have decided to move to The Square for more visibility,” says Rev. Chris Townsend, Minister of Students at First Baptist. “Trunks of Treats is a great time with members and organizations of the church parking around The Square and passing out candy and goodies from the trunks of their vehicles, many of which will be decorated,” he continued.
“We also encourage the children to come in costume, however, we would like for them to come in positive outfits.”
In conjunction with the goodies distributed, there will be door prizes for those who sign up at the registration booth and there will be music by “Endless Flight,” a Christian band from the Augusta area.
“First Baptist is always looking for new ways to reach out to the community and hopes that Trunks of Treats will become an annual event that grows larger each and every year,” Townsend concluded.
Any questions can be directed to the church office at 678-2912. Anyone who would like to set up a trunk to distribute goodies can obtain a registration form by calling this number.
