We had a good sermon Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, and also a good attendance, about 85-plus. Lillie Crawford placed beautiful roses in the church. The choir sang “I’ll Meet You in the Morning,” and I enjoyed that song a lot. It is one of my favorites. On October 30 we will observe he Lord’s Supper. Don’t forget our fall festival on November 5. It’s fun for the entire family. Last Tuesday I joined my mother, Blanche Wallace, and my sister, Nan Goff, for a trip to Greenwood, S.C. We visited my grandparents’ place of burial and my brothers, also. We had lunch together and had a fun day. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips went to Savannah last Wednesday and picked up Mrs. Marlene Pinkston, Richard’s sister-in-law, and brought her to Aonia for the night. Thursday morning the three of them left to go to Ezel, Ky., to visit Richard’s sister, Hilda, and her husband, Doug Alfrey. En route to Kentucky they enjoyed Cherokee, N.C., Gatlinburg, and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. They toured around the area in Kentucky where Richard and Hilda were reared. On Monday they enjoyed Caves Cove, Tenn., the Dillard House, and other places of interest. They carried Mrs. Pinkston home to Savannah Tuesday and late Tuesday afternoon were home again in Aonia. Saturday, I visited the Phillipses and we enjoyed supper in Thomson. We are glad to hear that Bill Mobley is now in Walton Rehabilitation Center and is making progress. Keep praying for Eula and Bill. Mrs. Keith Standard attended (and worked) the 29-AD Seminar for Children at Smyrna Saturday. They had around 32 young people to attend. It was all centered around “A Day in the Life of a Jewish Community.” Trudy Ingram and her mother, Mrs. Lucille Ingram, carried the widows of Hephzibah Baptist Church in Lincolnton on a trip to the North Georgia Mountains last week. They report a good time. Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Ryll, Conner and Calley, visited Mrs. Lona Chesnut and Roy Saturday. Roy’s friend, Hunter Safrit, was spending the weekend with him. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Ryll, Connor and Calley visited Mrs. Lucille Turpin. I spent Sunday afternoon with my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry N. Wallace. We enjoyed taking a ride through “the country” where I had not been lately. Mrs. Jenelle Newsome and Smythe Newsome were in Augusta Thursday to be with Charlie Coker as he had surgery. He is doing some better, but is very ill. G.B. and I attended the Rayle Ramble Saturday. I got to see several friends that I had not seen lately. Visitors of Mrs. Sara Huff the past week were Randy and Cassie Goldman, Donnie and Misty Johnson of Lincoln County, Linda Standard, Peyton Standard, Alex Dunaway, and Sherry Newsome. Paul Ingram of Smyrna spent Sunday with Mrs. Florence Ingram. Paul carried his mother out to dinner in Washington. Alex Dunaway visited Tommy and Regina several times last week. I hope Mr. Tommy feels better soon. Laura Harper visited June Harper during the weekend. Beverly Adams of Woodstock has been visiting her mother, Mrs. Ray Adams. Terry Adams, Kim and Kelley of Thomson visited them Sunday. We are glad to hear that Ann Saggus is doing better after having surgery last week. Tammy Gunter is home from the hospital and feeling much better after her surgery recently. Bobbie Thornton visited Miss Grace Dunaway and Alex Dunaway last week. Happy birthday to Phyllis Marett on October 26; Lou Bentley, October 27; and my niece, Amy Romines, on October 29. We have many prayer concerns. Some I know of are: Bill Mobley, Ann Saggus, Tammy Gunter, Thomas Smith, Joe Barnett, Tommy Granade, Susie Mae Edwards, Tommy Dunnaway, Charlie Coker, Billy Glen, Billy Cofer, Linda Albea, Claire Nelson, Page Prater, Vickey Sisson, Ed Burdette, Jack Newsome, Rev. and Mrs. Larry Martin, our elderly, our church, our leaders, our military in Iraq, and other dangerous places, the family of Mavis Holloway Flanigan, the family of Ruby Story Bentley, the family of Mercedes Z. Torres, the family of Elmer Trantham, the family of Alex Kish, the family of Frances Pullen Bear, the family of Kenney Lee Turner, Gene Lamar, and Virginia Hunter. Daniel Standard and Bobby Ansley visited the Keith Standards. Peyton Standard spent several days with them. Happy birthday to Mrs. Edna Lamar in Tignall. I believe it’s her 85th birthday and she looks like 65 or so.
