2005-10-27 / Personalities

Kendrick Harris (pictured above with Major League Baseball pitcher Kevin Brown) participated in a walk for breast cancer “Race for the Cure” in Macon on October 22.

She wore a pink ribbon for each one of the women for whom she walked.

Harris gave the following response as to why she participated in the walk:

I walk for hope. Hope that one day they will find a cure to make breast cancer go away. I walk for people that I love and who have influenced my life. I walk for friends, family, and everyone in the world with breast cancer. I walk in celebration of Gennie Callaway, Lucy Ward, Mae-Mae, Mabel Johnson, Eloise Wood, Debbie Lindsey, Vicky Batrous, Kim Carr, and Sadie Brooks. But most of all I walk in memory of my friend and first grade teacher, Nancy Callaway Long.”

Harris is the daughter of Mercer and India Harris of Washington and Suzan Harris of Thomson.
