Carrie B. Johnson

Funeral services for Carrie B. Johnson, 97, were held Saturday, October 29, 2005, at the Friendship Baptist Church, Crawfordville, with Rev. Harvey Peek and Dr. Winfred M. Hope officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She died October 23, at the University Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Athens.

Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Alex and Bessie Perteet of Washington and was a faithful member of the Friendship Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board and the Pastor’s Aide Club for many years. After moving to Athens, she joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a Sunday School teacher. One of the most proud and memorable moments in her life was the completion of high school at the age of 74 in 1982.

Survivors include a son, Willie Johnson of Atlanta; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Davenport-McLendon Mortuary of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
