Elementary school students enjoy musical concert

The University of Georgia’s Outreach Program through their Office of Performing Arts recently provided a concert for students at Washington Wilkes Elementary.

Selections for the concert included compositions by Benjamin Britten, Franz Schubert, and Dmitri Shostakovitch. Students enjoyed classical music performed by violist Antoine Tamestit from France and pianist Marcus Hadulla from Germany.

Among Mr. Tamestit’s honors are first prize, 2004 Munich International Music Competition of the ARD; first prize, 2003 Young Concert Artists International Auditions; and the Peter Jay Sharp Debut Prize.

Mr. Hadulla has won several international awards, including the prize for best pianist at the Seventh International Hugo-Wolf Competition in Stuttgart in 1994.
