Lyonsville Baptist Church will have a Christmas program on Sunday, December 25, 11:45 a.m. The theme is “The True Meaning of Christmas.” Parents who would like for their children to participate should call Stacy Woods at 678-4921. Transportation for children is provided and free.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will have its Christmas program, “The Joy of Jesus on the Inside,” by the Drama Team, Dance Team, and Youth Department, Saturday, December 17, 3 p.m.

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church will present its annual Christmas program Sunday, December 18, 6 p.m. A play entitled “The Guest” will be presented by the adult class.

The Wilkes County Board of Registrars will meet Thursday, December 15, 9 a.m., in Room 323 at the Wilkes County Courthouse.

Pompey’s Chapel Baptist Church will celebrate the birthday of Pastor W.R. Ferrell and have pastor appreciation services on Sunday, December 25, at 11:30 a.m. Pastor L.V. Turman and Faith Christian Center will be in charge. Dinner will be served..

Gibson Grove Baptist Church will have a watchnight service Saturday, December 31, 10 p.m. There will be a fish fry following the service.

Clifford Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, will have a worship service on Christmas Day, Sunday, December 25, at 8 a.m.

Mulberry Baptist Church will celebrate the 11th anniversary of Rev. Robert L. Crawford on Sunday, December 18, 11:30 a.m. Rev. George Edwards and the Thankful Baptist Church of Lincolnton will be in charge. Dinner will be served.

The Civil War Round Table of Washington will not hold a meeting in December. The next meeting will be January 23, 2006.

The Reese J. Booker Scholarship Silver Anniversary Program will be held on Sunday, December 25, at 6 p.m, at the Marks Tabernacle Baptist Church, Lexington Avenue. All the recipients of this scholarship are asked to be present and share what they are currently doing. All churches and choirs are invited to participate.

Cherry Grove Baptist Church will have a watchnight service on December 31, 10 p.m. Breakfast will be served. Rev. A. McElreath will bring the message.

The Washington Presbyterian Church will hold candlelight services at 7:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, December 24. Rev. Randy Hardy invites everyone to attend this special program of scripture lessons and carols.

The Washington First Baptist Church will have its annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Observance of The Lord’s Supper on December 24, with piano and organ music by Jo Randall and Jane Newsome and solo by Patricia Burton, beginning at 6 p.m.

Solomon Pool Holiness Church in Lincolnton will have a Christmas play on Sunday, December 25, beginning at 10 a.m.

The Lincolnton First Assembly of God will present a Christmas cantata, “Christmas People,” Sunday, December 18, 6 p.m. A nursery will be provided.

Solomon Pool Holiness Church, Lincolnton, will have a watchnight service Saturday, December 31, 10 p.m. Minister Ella Zellars of Athens will be the speaker.

Pompey’s Chapel, in conjunction with Booker’s Chapel and New Saints, will have a watchnight service at Pompey’s Chapel Baptist Church December 31, at 9 p.m. Pastor Dante Smith will be the guest speaker. Breakfast will be served.

Tom Granam will present an organ dedication recital at the Church of the Mediator on January 15, at 3 p.m.

Reeves Chapel Baptist Church will have pastor appreciation day on Sunday, December 18, 11:45 a.m. Services are held every first and third Sunday of each month, at 11:45 a.m.

The W-WHS Class of 1973 meets every Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Lucky Day Café to plan for a class party. All class members are welcome.

Nebo Gospel Chorus and Virtuous Women of Praise will present a program Sunday, December 18, 3 p.m. Groups will set up at 2 p.m. Invited musical guests include House of Prayer, Maple Spring Inspirational Choir, and Maple Spring Male Chorus, Hartwell; Determined from Warrenton; The Young Disciples and the Springfield Community Choir of Washington; and First Baptist Male Chorus and Thankful Youth Choir of Lincolnton.

The next regular meeting of the Wilkes County Department of Family and Children Services Board of Directors will be held Tuesday, December 20, 10 a.m., at the Edward Pope Community Center.

“Jubilee Day,” the NAACP celebration of the Emancipation Proclamation, will be held Sunday, January 1, 4 p.m., at the Third Shiloh Mission Center, 219 McLendon Drive, Washington.
