‘Night of Lights’ decorating set for Dec. 22

The Iris Garden Club and the City of Washington will sponsor the annual Night of Lights Christmas decorating contest for Washington homes on Thursday, December 22.

Judging will be at 6 p.m. and the deadline to enter is at noon on that day.

Homeowners who want to participate in the contest must call Marilyn Pasco at 678-7630 or Jackie Gale at 678-1059 and leave their name and address by that deadline. Homes not registered will not be judged.

Mrs. Pasco says that it is necessary that entrants register because there is no way that the judges can drive down each street and select the winners.

There will be two categories – one-story homes, and two-story homes. The prizes will be $25 for first place; $15 for second place; and $10 for third place in each category. Homeowners entering the contest are asked to have their house number illuminated so that the judges can find the location.

All homeowners, whether entering the contest or not, are asked to turn on their front porch light. Winners will be chosen by their display, not the amount of lights, Mrs. Pasco said.
