Ebenezer Baptist Church had a treat Sunday when the Gay family of Lincoln County ministered to us in song. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Gay, Amanda and Will, came to sing special Christmas songs. Each one plays an instrument and they are very talented. Mr. and Mrs. Gay are teachers and enjoy this gift as a family hobby. We appreciate them coming and hope they will come back. The young people of Ebenezer Baptist Church and their leaders went caroling Sunday evening. They met at the church, prepared fruit bags, and then went to some homes of shut-ins and the elderly. Later, they all enjoyed a pizza supper at the Burdette cabin. There will be a candlelight service at Ebenezer Baptist Church Sunday evening, December 18, at 6 p.m. Afterwards, light refreshments will be served. Last Saturday evening, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Scroggs of Aonia and Jackson County hosted a delightful Christmas party for the entire church. There was lots of good food and fun and fellowship for all who attended. This month’s homebound member at Ebenezer Baptist Church is Mrs. Ethel B. Harris. Her address is Wilkes Health Care Center, Hospital Drive, Washington. Write to her or go by and visit Miss Ethel. Beverly Adams of Woodstock spent the weekend with Mrs. Ray Adams and visited other family members. Michael VanHart spent Friday with Roy Chesnut. Trudy Ingram joined other friends from church and enjoyed the singing Christmas tree at Abilene Baptist Church in Martinez Sunday afternoon. Miss Grace Dunaway and Alex Dunaway visited Beverly Teasley in Lincoln County Monday evening. Richard Phillips attended the Christmas Tour of Homes Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Phillips and friends went to Columbia, S.C., Sunday. G.B. and I had dinner with my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry N. Wallace, in Lincoln County Sunday. Other visitors were Garnett Wallace and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Goff. Sincere love and sympathy is expressed to all who recently lost loved ones. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Victor Linares and children to our community. They bought the former home of Rev. Waldo Harris. Our prayer concerns are many. Some I know about are J.W. Thornton, Tommie Lou Heard, Mike Webb, Charlie Coker, Van Allen Bufford, Martha Hall, Billy Cofer, Bob Jackson, Libby Ivey, Edyee McClain, Kathryn Padgett, Bill Mobley, Mary Kaye Hall, Joe Woodruff, Jane and David Wright, Mrs. Lois South, Miss Clifford Shank, Mrs. Ethel Harris, Mrs. Dot Shank, Henrietta Leard, Ed Burdette, Johnny Shedd, Evans Davis, Mike Wilkie, Sammy Evans, Christy Ware, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hardy, Ann Corbett, Elizabeth Dallis, Sanders Dallis, the Jack Tanner family, Bert Aycock, Claire Nelson, Tammy Gunter, Louie Gene Hubbard, Geraldine Dill, Mary Ruff, Lavelle Cooper, our county, our military, our country, our leaders, our churches and pastors, our elderly, and all who may be ill that we don’t know about. Mr. and Mrs. Chris Standard and Hunter of Denham Springs, La., spent several days with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Standard and Peyton. Visiting Mrs. Sara Huff during the week were Alex Dunaway, Mrs. Helen Miller, Randy Goldman, Connie Johnson, both of Lincoln County, Peyton Standard and Hunter Peck, Linda Standard, and Chris Standard. Rev. and Mrs. Jim Newsome of Vero Beach, Fla., arrived Sunday evening to spend several days with his mother, Mrs. Jenelle Newsome, and Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Newsome and new baby Anna in Augusta. Congratulations to Jamie and Charlene on the birth of Anna, their firstborn baby. A dog, real sweet with perhaps Blue Heeler in it, has decided to call my home her home. Although she is sweet and cautious, I cannot keep her on this busy highway and I have two dogs and three cats to care for. She is white and black and very friendly. She came here with a collar on and no name. Our visitors were our children, Shane and Tanner Barnett, and Nick Gaines, from Athens; Shannon Thomason, Burt Newsome, and Wes Butler. Remember to keep Christ in Christmas and He is the reason for the season. Merry Christmas to everyone.
