I hope each of you is having a good day and that you are excited about Christmas coming up when we celebrate the birthday of Jesus.

have fond memories growing up when all the family would get together. On Christmas Eve, my father, the late Emmett Lyle (Em. L) Johnson would get out the big family Bible and read the story of Jesus Christ being born and laid in a manger. Phillips Mill Baptist Church is among churches preparing to have a Nativity scene carried out by our children. The children’s program is open to all who would like to take part. Title is “A Reminder of His Birth.” It will be at 6 p.m. Sunday night, December 18. Refreshments and continued fellowship in the fellowship hall will be enjoyed afterwards. If you would like to help make some sandwiches or other goodies, they will be appreciated. The Phillips Mill Baptist Church Choir, led by Bes Moore, will present “The Gift Goes On” during the morning worship service Sunday, December 18. We hope all members and interested friends will be able to attend. Sunday School is at 10 a.m. and the morning worship at 11 a.m. Beautiful poinsettias have been placed by a number of people in honor of and in memory of loved ones, which are appreciated. Thanks to Brandon Waller and Tyler Scarborough for singing a special Sunday morning, “’Tis So Sweet to Trust In Jesus.” The Phillips Mill Baptist Church Adult Sunday School Class taught by Henry McAvoy enjoyed an outing together Saturday night. They were treated to supper at Ryan’s in Thomson. We want to wish Henry and Faye Sisson McAvoy a happy Golden Wedding Anniversary Sunday, December 18. They recently enjoyed a trip to see their daughter Ruth and her husband in Utah. While there they celebrated Faye’s birthday and their anniversary. They are special to many and mean so much to Phillips Mill Baptist Church, serving the Lord wherever needed. Henry is the son of the late Henry Pope McAvoy and Susie Sherrer McAvoy and Faye is the daughter of the late John Loyd Sisson and Reba Combs Sisson.
