The state’s top defensive player
2005-12-22 / Front Page
Washington-Wilkes Tiger standout Markeith Wylie was all over the backfield of every opponent his team faced en route to this year’s state runnerup finish. For his stellar performance throughout the season, he was named not only first team defensive All-State but Georgia Defensive Player of the Year, a rare honor earned by only a few W-W Tigers over the years. Above, Wylie sacks the Savannah Country Day quaterback as the Tigers rebounded to beat the Hornets 27-10 in the state quarterfinal. Tiger offensive lineman Casey Nickels was also named to the All-State team. More on page 8A.
