W-WMS competes at state Beta Club convention
Winners at the 2005 Junior Beta Club State Meeting included Hannah Ward, Mallory Powell, Alaina Weber, Jacob Davis, and Mary Ellen Murphy.Members of the WashingtonWilkes Middle School Beta Club attended the state convention in Macon November 17-18, an event which attracted more than 5,000 teachers and students.
The 27 delegates from Washington Wilkes participated in a variety of academic and artistic events. The competition was fierce as they competed against 145 middle schools that also brought their brightest and most talented students to the convention.
W-W Middle School was well represented at the awards ceremony on Friday afternoon. Jacob Davis placed fifth in the Essay contest, Mary Ellen Murphy placed third in Cross-stitch, and the T-Shirt design team of Mallory Powell, Hannah Ward, and Alaina Weber placed fifth.
The remaining delegates who did well in their competitions were: Cameron Bailey, Megan Churning, Blake Connell, Jacob Davis, Jacob Eskew, Brittany Guin, Adam Hackney, Laura Heard, Ashley Jackson, Will Lawson, Rob Lovvorn, James McAvoy, Hannah McTier, Jessica Murphy, Kristyn Norman, Brittney Pender, Michael Pharr, Nick Reville, Jillian Sapp, Will Souther, Jessica Spradlin, Gracen Ware, and Fallon West.
