Miss Minnie Evans (center) was honored by a crowd of friends and neighbors at a luncheon at Watchmakers Restaurant last week for her many years of service to the young children of Wilkes County. County Commission Chairman Sam Moore (l) and Washington Mayor Willie E. Burns presented Miss Minnie with a proclamation naming this week as “Miss Minnie Week,” encouraging citizens to recognize and honor her contributions to early childhood development of so many children.
