Ebenezer Baptist Church had two great services Sunday. We had a good crowd for Sunday School and preaching. Rev. Albert Huyck preached from Matthew on “The Miracle.” Sunday evening we had a candlelight service. I missed most of this as I thought it was at 6:30 but it started at 6 p.m. Refreshments were served afterwards. Tanner Barnett, our “baby” grandson, attended with me. This weekend we will have one service at 10:30 a.m. (December 25). Plan to be there to celebrate Jesus’ birthday. Little William Mason Wheatley came to Ebenezer Sunday, making his first appearance. He is the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Wheatley. I know the proud grandparents are excited about Christmas with a new addition to their family. We (my family) had our Christmas at the home of my parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry N. Wallace, Sunday. G.B. and I joined Mr. and Mrs. Henry Wallace, Mr. and Mrs. Garnett Wallace, Chaz and Marc Wallace of Dahlonega, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Goff, Mr. and Mrs. Riley Romines, Troy and Travis, all of McCormick, Shane Barnett, Trace and Tanner, and Nick Gaines of Oglethorpe County, Trace’s friends, Jason and Justin of Jackson County, Shannon Thomason, Taylor McAvoy and friend, Wes Butler, of Danburg. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Myers Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mobley Jr., Summer and Hannah. Visiting Mrs. Sara Huff during the weekend were sons, Russell Goldman of Doraville, Randy Goldman of Lincoln County, Connie Johnson and Misty, Linda Standard and Peyton. Alex Dunaway and Peyton Standard visited Mr. and Mrs. Keith Standard. Stephanie Haynes, Chip and Skyla of Zebulon are visiting Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips. Kathy Fender and Genie Shelton visited Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Gay. Congratulations to Lois and Lynn upon the arrival of a new grandbaby, Helena Teresa Ganzalez, who is the daughter of Brian and Andrea Ganzalez of Vero Beach, Fla. The infant was born December 13 and weighed 6 ½ lbs. She was 19 inches long. We know Lynn and Lois will soon be headed to Florida. Miss Grace Dunaway and Alex Dunaway were supper guests of Beverly Teasley of Lincoln County Saturday. Mrs. McLinda T. Erwin, Cathy, Lillie and Maggie of Winterville also joined them. On Monday night Miss Grace and Alex were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Troy Brown. Mrs. Walter Tuttle visited Mr. and Mrs. Hill O’Neal and Mrs. Henry O’Pry of Athens Sunday. Pat has been under the weather and we hope she will feel better real soon. Alex Dunaway visited his sister, Mrs. Flora Ann McGill, Thursday. I understand that my former classmate, Page R. Prater, had a bone marrow transplant in Atlanta last week and came through the surgery well. I need an update but have not heard in the last several days. Our prayer concerns include Page Prater, Harold Brownlee, Henry Wallace, Eddie Howard, Helen Young, Louie Gene Hubbard, Barbara Andrews, Marilyn and Jack Newsome, Charlie Coker, Allen Thurmond, J.W. Thornton, Tommie Lou Heard, Dr. and Mrs. Carlton Hearn, Ann Corbett, Bill Niemann, Henrietta Leard, Mary Duggan, Libby Ivey, Mike Webb, Billy Cofer, Mary Ruff, Tony Hogan, Claire Nelson, Pat Tuttle, Grady Reed, Linda Albea, Ray Brown, Van Allen Bufford, Mike Wilkie, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hardy, Mrs. Lois South, Mrs. Maude Griffith, Mrs. Dot Shank, and Mrs. Ethel B. Harris. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a blessed happy New Year. Don’t forget Christmas is about love and do something kind for someone who may not have family or friends in our area.
