There will be no Sunday School hour at Clifford’s Grove Baptist Church on Christmas Day. Worship services will begin at 10 a.m. The beautiful arrangement of poinsettias in the sanctuary at Clifford’s Grove Baptist Church were placed there by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Pullen in memory of his mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. Arvel Hallford. The home of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Bradford in Washington was the scene of a family Christmas dinner on Saturday. Those enjoying the occasion were Mrs. Juanita Bradford, Mr. and Mrs. John Sutherland and Brad, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Bradford, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gowan, Tyler and April, and friends of Thomson, and Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Bradford, Cassie and Morgan of Illinois. Mrs. Ricky McCarty attended the Beta Sigma Phi Christmas party held at the home of Mrs. Peyton McGill Monday night. Mr. and Mrs. Ricky McCarty attended the Pliant Christmas dinner held at the Fitzpatrick Hotel Tuesday night. The beautiful wedding of Ann Branham and Josh Caldwell was held at the First Baptist Church in McCaysville Saturday afternoon. Family members from this area attending were her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Branham, Whitney and Charlie, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hayden, Ryan and Philip of Martinez; Mr. and Mrs. Philip Huff of Athens; and family friends, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hoffmann. After the lovely reception the bride and groom left for their honeymoon and the family and friends met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Branham for their Christmas celebration. That night they all attended a Christmas play presented by the Fanning County High School Drama Class in which Beth Branham was a participant. It was a very good play and we all enjoyed seeing it. For the trip to McCaysville, Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Peter Hoffmann. It was a funtime and we enjoyed the fellowship with the Hoffmanns. While there they stayed at the Ramada Inn in Blue Ridge. They left early Sunday morning and arrived home in time to attend worship service at Clifford’s Grove, then had lunch at the Home CafĂ© before the Hoffmanns returned to their home in North Augusta. Mrs. Gail Hammock of Warwick spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ricky McCarty. On Sunday, Pam and Gail went to Madison to the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Tamplin where they were joined by Gail’s daughter Joy of Homer, Alaska, and son, Edward, of Warwick, and other family members for the Davis family Christmas celebration. Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer and Whitney Branham attended the Christmas program at Wilkes County Baptist Church Sunday night and enjoyed it very much, also the delicious refreshments and fellowship time. I wish for everyone a beautiful and merry Christmas and let’s not forget the real reason to celebrate – the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ.
