Washington Area Faith in Action and the First United Methodist Church will sponsor a public meeting on Medicare Part D, Rx insurance on Tuesday, January 24, 3:30 p.m., at the Pope Center on Lexington Avenue. Local pharmacists will give complete descriptions and assist in application. Refreshments will be provided.

Athens Technical College’s Wilkes County Training Programs will be conducting classes in Spanish Level I at the Adult Learning Center behind McDonald’s January 24 through March 7. The Civil War Round Table of Washington will meet January 23, 2006.

Tom Granam will present an organ dedication recital at the Church of the Mediator on January 15, at 3 p.m.

The Mt. Carmel Deacons Board will present a program on January 14, 4 p.m.

The next regular meeting of the Wilkes County Department of Family & Children Services Board of Directors (DFCS) will be held Tuesday, January 17, 10 a.m., at the Edward Pope Community Center.

The W-W Little League will meet Monday, January 9, 6:30 p.m., at the Wills Memorial Hospital Café. Information will be given on sign-up, coaches, etc.

The 4-H Horse Club will meet Thursday, January 5, 7 p.m., at the McGill-Woodruff Ag Center. Dr. Darren Baxley from the Wilkes County Veterinary Services will speak on equine care and health. There will also be discussion of the upcoming horse quiz bowl and Georgia Horse Fair at Perry. All members are urged to attend.

New Saints CME Church, 515 Baltimore Road, Washington, will hold this month’s SNAP meetings on Saturday, January 21 and 28, at 10 a.m. Members and anyone interested in joining are urged to attend the meetings.
