Crack cocaine dealing leads December’s arrest roundup

Former Tiger standout Antonio D. Mercier and three others were caught recently with a sizable amount of crack cocaine during a traffic stop in Tignall, and have been charged with multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute illegal drugs.

Wilkes County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Mercier along with Nicholas Antwan Norman, 21; Michael Walton, 20; and Eddie Lockhart, 25, during a traffic stop in Tignall on December 7. Chief Deputy Mike Sisson said that more than 100 individual packets of crack cocaine and over an ounce of marijuana were found in the car. None of the men would own up to the drugs, Sisson said, so all were charged. All of the men are Tignall residents.

Mercier, 21, is being held on $125,000 bond. He is charged with three counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine.

Norman is being held on $75,000 bond, and is charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute.

Lockhart is also charged with two counts of possession with intent to distribute and held on $75,000 bond.

Walton, in addition to two counts of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He was held on $80,000 bond.

In another drug arrest, Tavaris Ramsey, 28, of Tignall, was arrested December 22 by Washington police when he was found to have 30 to 40 small bags of crack cocaine, WPD Lt. Joe Nelson said. Ramsey was charged with felony possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. He was released on $50,000 bond.

In a roundup of other Wilkes County law enforcement, the fol lowing arrests were logged at the Cecil Moore Law Enforcement Center during the month of December:

Catrina R. Cofer, 29, of Wilkes County, was arrested December 30 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with three counts of deposit account fraud. She was released on $615 cash bond.

Demetric Hill, 26, of Washington, was arrested December 28 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with one charge of simple battery. He was released on $3,500 bond.

Mark Toje, 47, of Washington, was arrested December 28 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with three counts of deposit account fraud. He was $4,500 bond.

Lalonga T. Hearst, 29, of Lincolnton, was arrested December 28 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with one count of simple battery. She was released on $3,500 bond.

Tom Ferguson Jr., 39, of Washington, was arrested December 27 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with two counts of deposit account fraud. He was held on $3,000 bond.

Ramon Gartrell, 34, of Washington, was arrested December 27 by Washington police and charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license; driving without proof of insurance; and a violation of the registration and license requirements. He was released on $2,600 bond.

Jackie Lee Jones, 39, of Lincolnton, was arrested December 26 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with forgery in the first degree. No bond was noted.

Matthew Aaron Braxton, 17, of Wilkes County, was arrested December 24 by DNR rangers, Wilkes County deputies, and Washington police and charged with hunting from a vehicle and hunting from a road. He was released on bond.

Henry Davis, 52, of Wilkes County, was arrested December 24 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, and with a traffic charge. He was released on $2,000 bond.

Kious Luvicus Reid, 28, of Athens, was arrested December 24 by the Georgia State Patrol and charged with driving under the influence; misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and speeding. He was released on $3,500 bond.

Wanda S. Cooper, 48, of Washington, was arrested December 23 by Washington Police and charged with shoplifting. She was held on $822 bond.

Travis Jones, 34, of Rayle, was arrested December 23 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with two counts of deposit account fraud. He was released on $2,000 bond.

Robert Glenn Jr., 27, of Rayle, was arrested December 23 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with deposit account fraud. He was released on $213 cash bond.

Nicki Nicole Norman, 31, of Tignall, was arrested December 22 by Washington police and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. He was released on $50,000 bond.

James E. Mahoney, 24, of Washington, was arrested December 22 by Washington police and charged with two counts of felony possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, and with a probation violation. Bond was set at $75,000, and Mahoney is held on the probation violation.

William Randy Blackmon Jr. 50, of Washington, was arrested December 22 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with theft by deception. He was held for Elbert County.

Gerald Dunn, 41, of Union Point, was arrested December 20 by Washington police and charged with one count of theft by shoplifting and one count of giving a false name to a law enforcement officer. He was held for warrants in Greene County.

Michael L. Jackson, 43, of Wilkes County, was arrested December 21 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with a state probation violation.

Jeffry Scott Carroll, 42, of Wilkes County, was arrested December 17 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with felony theft by taking. No bond was noted.

Robert King Jr., 41, of Washington, was arrested December 15 by Washington police and charged with driving on a revoked or suspended license, and a traffic violation. He was released on $1,592 bond.

Marlos Sherrer, 21, of Washington, was arrested December 13 by Washington police and charged with driving under the influence, and with a license requirement. He was released on $2,000 bond.

Michael Jenkins, 29, of Washington, was arrested December 6 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with driving with no license plate, driving with no proof of insurance, and driving without a seatbelt. He was released on $1,062 bond.

Johnnie Binns, 43, of Washington, was arrested December 7 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with two charges of cruelty to children. He was released on $10,000 bond.

Marion Mahoney, 22, of Washington, was arrested December 4 by Washington police and charged with possession or distribution of a controlled substance; having an open container of alcohol; and a defective equipment charge. He was held on $26,000 bond.

Willie Ed Parker, 62, of Tignall, was arrested December 5 by Tignall police and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released on $600 bond.

James Edward Danner, 22, of Washington, was arrested December 4 by Washington Police and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving too fast for conditions. He was released on $2,574 bond.

Larry Avery, 18, of Lithonia, was arrested December 4 by Washington police and charged with underage possession of alcohol and violation of the open container law. He was released on $1,200 bond.

Terrance Hughes, 17, of Elberton, was arrested December 3 by Washington police and charged with simple possession. He was released on $1,600 bond.

Waddy Luke, 45, of Tignall, was arrested December 3 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with a probation violation.

Derrick Wheeler, 24, of Sharon, was arrested December 3 by Washington police and charged with public drunkenness. He was released on $276 bond.

Jarvis Mickens, 28, of Washington, was arrested December 2 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with a probation violation.

John Lee Tutt, 49, of Washington, was arrested December 1 by Washington police and charged with simple battery. He was held on $3,500 bond.

Bernice Binns, 43, of Washington, was arrested December 1 by Washington police and charged with aggravated assault. No bond was noted.

James Bankston, 37, of Tignall, was arrested December 1 by Sheriff’s deputies and charged with a probation violation.
