Relay for Life sets team captain meet for Tuesday night
Team captains for the 2006 Wilkes County Relay for Life will meet next Tuesday night to plan for this year’s American Cancer Society fund-raiser.
“We’re having the first team captains meeting Tuesday, January 10, at 6 p.m. at the little building behind Washington-Wilkes Parks & Rec,” said ACS representative Summer Garrison. “Our theme this year is ‘Rockin & Rollin for a Cure.’”
“We already have nine teams returning from last year,” Wilkes County chairman Amy Treadwell said. “They are First Baptist Church, Little River Methodist Charge, Washington Seventh Day Adventist, Wilkes Health Care, Pliant, JUMP, Washington City Police Department, and Wills Memorial Hospital.”
Several committee members recently attended Relay University in Duluth where they learned new ideas for making the 2006 Relay better, she said. “We’re very excited about this year’s Relay and want to implement the exciting new ideas we learned.”
Last year’s Relay for Life raised over $28,800, Treadwell said.
