The homes of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Wells and of Dr. and Mrs. Carlton Hearn won top prizes in this year’s “Night of Lights,” the Iris Garden Club’s annual Christmas decorating contest.

The Wells home on Cedar Street took first place in the one-story category. The Mercer Harris home on W. Robert Toombs took second place in that category, and the Merriwether home on Kendall Drive took third.

The Hearn’s Spring Street home won first place in the two-story category. The home of Jerry Ray Denard on the Tignall Road placed second, and the home of Charlotte Simmons on Spring Street placed third.

This year there was no commercial category, she said, only categories for residential one-story and two-story homes. Prizes were $25 for first, $15 for second place, and $10 for third in each category.

“All the homes were beautiful this year,” Marilyn Pasco said. “It was harder than ever to choose the best.”
