I hope everyone had a good Christmas, but I know we all need to slow down now and get some rest. There has been a lot of sickness and I hope those people will soon be feeling better. The 10 o’clock service at Clifford’s Grove Baptist Church was well attended on Christmas Day. It is nice when family members come home to visit during the holidays and can attend worship services with you. Mrs. Juanita Bradford was a patient in Doctors Hospital in Augusta several days. She came home Saturday but is still not feeling very well. We hope she is better soon. After services at Clifford’s Grove on Christmas Day, Mr. and Mrs. Evans Davis went to Augusta to have lunch with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Scoggins, Hannah and Dylan. That evening, Hannah came home with them to spend the night. Monday afternoon, her family came for her and all were supper guests before returning home. W.A. Stevens and daughter Vickie visited Mr. and Mrs. Evans Davis on Friday before Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer attended the funeral of his cousin, Georgia Sherrer Wade, on Thursday, December 29, at Bernstein Funeral Home in Athens. Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer attended the funeral of John Gill on Friday, December 30, at First Baptist Church in Lavonia. He was the husband of Lucy Nell Hopkins who grew up in Lundberg. The Sherrers were invited to have lunch with the family and friends at the church. Mrs. Virginia Witcraft of Raytown visited Mr. and Mrs. Evans Davis Thursday afternoon. Others visiting during the week were Mrs. Jack Crook of Lincolnton and Mr. and Mrs. Scott Blaine of Dahlonega. Mrs. Iris Dyson went to Elberton Sunday afternoon to have Christmas dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hopkins. Others joining them were Charlie Hopkins of Statesboro; Mr. and Mrs. Justin Turner and Harrison, and David Powell. Iris stayed overnight and returned home Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer attended the Christmas party at Washington Manor Thursday night, December 22. James was again asked to be Santa Claus and he has as much fun as the residents there. Most of them enjoyed having their picture made with Santa. A delicious covered dish meal was served before Santa made his appearance. Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer spent Christmas weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Coxe and Edna Sherrer in Bennettsville, S.C. Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Sherrer, Nikki and Jamie of Raleigh joined them. After having Christmas dinner on Saturday evening, they all attended the candlelight services at Thomas Memorial Baptist Church with Mr. and Mrs. Coxe. On Sunday morning, Mr. and Mrs. Sherrer accompanied Edna for services at Second Baptist Church of Bennettsville. The Lance family annual Christmas gathering was held at noon on Friday, December 30, at the Fitzpatrick Hotel. Those attending were Boyce Lance, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Lance, Clint Lance, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Lance, Brian Lance, Amy Wall, Mr. and Mrs. Jamie Atkinson, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Ansley, Jacob Ansley, Rev. and Mrs. John Lance, Sara Dees, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lance, James Lance, Elizabeth Barber, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Foxworth, Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer, and Mrs. Iris Dyson. After the Lance family party, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Lance visited Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lance Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Foxworth visited Saturday morning. Edward Branham and friends, Jack Bryson, David Bryson, and his grandson, Hunter, of McCaysville came in their camper and spent several days hunting. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Caldwell of Statesboro also came Wednesday and stayed until Friday with Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer.
