Willie Smith
Funeral services for Willie (Bigfoot) Smith, 60, of Washington were held Saturday, December 31, 2005, at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, Metasville, with Rev. Ricky Lock officiating. Burial was in City West Cemetery, Washington. He died Monday, December 26, in the McDuffie Regional Hospital, Thomson.
Mr. Smith was a native of Wilkes County and the son of Essie L. Luke and the late John L. Smith. He was a truck driver for 45 years and the father of eight children.
Survivors include five daughters, Sharon Curry, Shameco Tutt, Roslyn Bell, Letitia Callaway, and Jalethia L. Gresham of Washington; three sons, Stanley Curry, John Willie Smith, Washington, and Willie L. Smith, Waycross; a brother, Jeremiah Smith, Augusta; five sisters, Mary Wright, Essie L. Gaye, and Brenda Smith, Washington, Ruby Gomillion, Augusta, and Edith Allen, East Point; and 10 grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Travis Jones, Charles Curry, Authur Willis, Vester Wright, Joseph Gomillion, Tony Thomas, and Tracey Jones.
McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
