Despite a less than spectacular showing at their most recent meet, W-W Tiger wrestlers continue to please ever-increasing numbers of fans as the sport’s popularity keeps on growing.

The parking lot was full and the stands were nearly so when the Tigers took to the mats for their first home meet Tuesday. And though visiting Jackson County went home with the win, five Tigers were convincing in their individual matches. John Lovvorn (112), Tyson Gilland (125), Jesse Crago (130), Dywane Hampton (135), and Nick Gorsuch (145) all won against the Panthers.

A three-way meet will take the Tigers back on the road this Friday and on Saturday, they are scheduled for tournaments in Mt. Airy and Hartwell. The team will return home to host a four-way meet next Tuesday, January 10, at 5 p.m.
