Promotes art through Foundation
Anita Darden, chairman, described the mission and function of the Washington Wilkes Arts Foundation to members of the Washington Kiwanis Club at their regular Tuesday lunch meeting on January 17. She said that the foundation was formed three years ago as a consequence of the elimination of music and arts programs in the public schools. She explained that the mission of the foundation is to stimulate economic and cultural development, maintain the heritage, character, and history of Washington, Georgia, through music and art festivals. Darden also outlined the upcoming Spring Festival, scheduled for April 28-30, 2006, and appealed to members to volunteer for financial support by becoming a member of the Foundation. Louise Maynard (right) was program chairman for the day.
