W-WCHS called ‘effective, dedicated’ by QART

A Quality Assurance Review Team (QART) representing the Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (CASI), Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), visited Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School and has certified that the school has satisfactorily met all standards for accreditation.

During the on-site visit, peer review team members reviewed available documentation provided by the school and interviewed school personnel, parents, students, and community representatives. The Quality Assurance Review Team found W-WCHS to be “an effective school led by a dedicated and knowledgeable staff with a supportive community that encourages and supports student success.”

Additionally, the team commended the school for the following:

Understanding and commitment of stakeholders to the school’s vision, mission and beliefs.

Commitment and ownership by faculty and staff of the school improvement process.

The leadership and guidance of the internal facilitator and leadership team of the self-guided study.

The disaggregating of data and research used at the end of each semester to evaluate curriculum effectiveness.

Allocating and protecting sufficient time for student learning.

Varied after-school remediation opportunities to improve student learning.

Cleanliness and maintenance of facilities.

Leadership and collaboration of the media staff in supporting the instructional program.

Sense of community, ownership and pride demonstrated by all stakeholders.

Visibility of school administration at all school-sponsored events.
