CWRT’s first ’06 meeting slated for Monday at 6

The first meeting of the new year of the Civil War Round Table of Washington will be Monday, January 23, at 6 p.m., at Watchmaker’s Restaurant beginning with dinner for $10 per person.

This month’s featured speaker will be Emory Allen Burton. His topic will be “The Confederacy’s Other Army – the Army of Tennessee.”

Mr. Burton is a lifelong citizen of Wilkes County. He is a graduate of Washington-Wilkes High School and graduated from the University of Georgia in 1964. Subsequently, he earned an MBA from New York Institute of Technology and an MA in History from Old Dominion University.

His military education includes branch qualifications in field artillery and signal corps and graduation from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

Currently, he is an assistant academic dean for Georgia Military College-Augusta.

The Civil War Round Table is open to anyone interested in this period of history. Individual membership is $25; family is $35; and $15 for students.
