Sarah Jones Capell
Funeral services for Sarah Jones Capell, 91, of Greenwood, S.C., were held Saturday, January 14, 2006, at Mathews United Methodist Church with Rev. Harvey Peurifoy and Rev. John G. Hipp officiating. Burial was in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. She died Sunday, January 8, at NHC Health Care Center, Greenwood.
Mrs. Capell was a native of Hart County and was the daughter of the late Crayton B. and Laura Moss Jones, and the widow of Harvey S. Capell III. She had retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, and Connie Maxwell Children’s Home. She was a member of Mathews United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a charter member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service and a member of the Thrift Garden Club.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Harvey S. Capell IV and Dora Capell, Irmo, S.C., Lee C. and Christine Capell, WinstonSalem, N.C., and William J. and Betty Capell, Wolfeboro, N.H.; three sisters, Ruth Vail and Ellyn Bunch, both of Tignall, and Evelyn Rambo, Greenwood, S.C.; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Tommy Rambo, Lee Capell, Mike Capell, Joey Peascoe, Andy Peascoe, Chris Peascoe, David Miller, and Paul Burdette.
