Grace M. Beazley honored at 90th birthday celebration

Grace M. Beazley Grace M. Beazley Thad and Ginny Broome honored her mother, Grace M. Beazley, on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday at a celebration in the Ballroom of the Fitzpatrick Hotel in Washington Saturday, January 14.

Mrs. Beazley chose for her party a magenta silk faille suit.

Lovely bouquets of fresh flowers, sent from friends, were used about the room and complemented the beautiful buffet arrangement of fresh flowers in deep jewel tones displayed in a cutglass vase atop a silver plateau. White cloths were used on the buffet also accented with sweeps of tulle accenting the placement of the five cakes, each a different flavor. Fresh fruit, coffee and tea were also served.

A table near the entrance was filled with pictures of Mrs. Beazley from her childhood through her adult years with her family.

Mrs. Beazley was born on January 12, l916, in Wilkes County to Walter Albion and Sally Winnie Edwards Mathis. She married Guy Fluker Beazley on March 25, l934. They have a daughter, Grace Virginia, two grandsons, Thad Broome Jr. and Benjamin Broome and three-great-grandchildren, Brittany, Lindsey and Guy Morgan Broome.

She retired from the Taliaferro County Health Department after 25 years as their secretary.

Approximately 65 guests attended and included nieces and nephews from the Beazley and Mathis families, her brother, Carl Mathis of Conyers, church friends, neighbors and former work associates.
