Philip Louis Roberts accepts congratulations from President James Barker at commencement exercises at Clemson University. Philip Louis Roberts of Washington received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education with concentrations in Political Science and Economics from Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., in the commencement ceremony December 22 on the Clemson University campus.

While at Clemson, Mr. Roberts participated in the baseball program on the junior varsity team. He was the starting first baseman his freshman and sophomore seasons and played in the NCBA World Series in 2002. He was named head coach of the JV team in 2004 and led the Tigers to a 38-12 record over the next two seasons, winning the conference championship in 2005.

Mr. Roberts is now employed by Nathaniel Greene Academy in Siloam as a social studies teacher and head varsity baseball coach.

He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James I. Roberts of Washington.

Attending the commencement in addition to his parents were Mr. and Mrs. Matt Bailey of Central, S.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Bud Roberts, Maddie and Lexi, of Niceville, Fla.; Mr. and Mrs. Boyd M. Aycock III of Lincolnton; and Amberly Aycock of Greenville, S.C.

The family and guests enjoyed a celebratory dinner in Anderson, S.C., following graduation.
