Washington-Wilkes finished second in the Area 2A Team Duals in Hiawasee, defeating Treutlen 60-18, and Social Circle 48-30, before losing to No. 1 ranked Jefferson in the finals.

The state dual tournament will be Friday and Saturday at the Macon Coliseum. The Washington-Wilkes team will wrestle Trion in round one.

Washington-Wilkes defeated Oglethorpe (45-24) and Social Circle (57-21) Tuesday in a match held at Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School.

The Washington-Wilkes Middle School wrestlers defeated Oglethorpe 63-15. Rob Lovvorn, Derrick Ferris, and James McAvoy each had two wins and Mathew Howard had one win. Tom Saggus, who had two wins last week, also wrestled a strong match.

In USA wrestling, David Martin, Devinn Ferris, Mil Shedd, Ethan Ramos, Jack Martin, Hunter Newsome, and Cody McElroy all scored wins.

Will Souther, Derrick and Devinn Ferris each won medals in a USA tournament in Vidalia during the weekend.
