Wilkes County 4-H Horse Quiz Bowl team members and their leaders who went to Rock Eagle on Saturday included (l-r) Betty Cosby, Kathy Klaus, Debbie Merkert, Bonnie Bounds, Courtney Broome, Molly Newsome, Carly Cosby (holding sign), Brittany Klaus, Chance Stickney, Megan Gowen, and Tiffany Guin. Eight members of the Wilkes County 4-H Club competed at the Rock Eagle 4-H Center near Eatonton in the Horse Quiz Bowl on Saturday, January 21.

Two teams, a junior team and a senior team, represented Wilkes County and competed against many teams from counties across Georgia. Junior team members were Carly Cosby, Tiffany Guin, Courtney Broome, and Chance Stickney. Senior team members were Molly Newsome, Megan Gowen, Bonnie Bounds and Brittany Klaus.

The format for the Quiz Bowl competition is timed individual and group questions and answers. Once a question is posed the team has five seconds in which to respond by tapping a buzzer and giving the answer. Correct responses are awarded points and incorrect answers have points removed.

The information that must be memorized is quite difficult and both teams had worked for several months preparing for the competition. The adult leaders and families of the team members are extremely proud of the hard work and dedication put forth by the students.
