Math team receives honors

The Washington-Wilkes Middle School math team was impressive when members traveled to Conyers, Georgia, on Saturday, January 21, to compete in the Rockdale County High School math contest.

W-WMS competed in division AA and received a second place trophy for both pre-algebra and algebra. Also, it was announced that three W-W students earned the highest overall grade score for their appropriate grade. Those students are Brittany Guin, sixth grade; Vincent Curry, seventh grade; and Jessica Spradlin, eighth grade. Teachers Lee Collins, Chris Mason, and Belle Guin said they were very proud of all of the students and their accomplishments.

The competition involved middle and high school students from both public and private schools, mostly from the Atlanta area.
