Eudora Huyck made a trip to New York last week. Traveling with her was her cousin, Jackie Caldwell from Crawford; and her son, Lem LeRoy from Charlotte, N.C. Lem served as their tour guide. They had a great time touring New York City, but were shocked when they got off the plane there and met the extreme cold weather with wind blowing sleet in their faces. Curt Gammon, Carolyn Gammon’s grandson, celebrated his sixth birthday Saturday, January 21, with a big party at the Tignall Baptist Church Family Life Center. His birthday is January 23 and he celebrated with his kindergarten classmates at school. The Tignall Baptist Church was very proud of the two classes with 100 percent attendance on Sunday, January 22. They were the Preschool I and Adult II classes. Wendy Truitt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Truitt, graduated in December from Piedmont College in Demorest, with a Bachelor of Arts with a 3.87 grade point average. She majored in graphic design. Wendy lives in Athens now where she has had several job interviews. Her parents and the entire community are very proud of her. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Burton who lived in the Raymond Burton home on Hulin Avenur have moved into a mobile home in the Mallorysville community. I’m sure they will be missed by their neighbors in Tignall. Dr. Sophia Bamford celebrated her 93 rd birthday on January 2. Dr. Bamford is an interesting, remarkable woman and when you talk with her you have a real appreciation for her ever-pressing thirst for knowledge. Mrs. Ugh Keener went to Thomson Sunday afternoon to visit Mr. and Mrs. William Wansley and new baby girl, Elizabeth Dunn Wansley.
