John Albert Curry honored at 86th birthday celebration

Mr. and Mrs. John Albert Curry Mr. and Mrs. John Albert Curry John Albert Curry gathered with his wife, family, relatives, friends and the Twin Oak Baptist Church congregation on Saturday, January 14, for a surprise celebration in honor of his 86th birthday Thursday, January 26.

Festivities began with a play in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, produced and directed by Mr. Curry’s brother, Charles Curry Jr.

Afterwards everyone joined Mr. Curry in the fellowship hall for dinner and a special birthday program that highlighted his life. Mr. Curry received the Tree of Life Award for his outstanding accomplishments that included his military service as a mess sergeant in the United States Air Force, a Hoffman Soda Line Controller retiree, an honorable Mason, and the oldest member of the Curry/Harper family.

His wife, Willa Mae Curry, received flowers and a special recognition of her steadfast commitment and loving devotion to her husband.

The event was very well attended and included many out-of-state guests coming from Florida, Maryland, New York and Chicago, Ill.
